Our labels and certifications

A commitment to animals and the environment.

Le label FSC®– Forest Stewardship Council

The FSC label is an environmental label which certifies that the wood comes from responsibly and sustainably managed forests or plantations.

What are its principles?

1 - PROTECTION OF FSC PRINCIPLES AND LAWS

Forestry management must comply with all applicable laws and all international treaties signed by the country.

2 - PROTECTION OF WORKING CONDITIONS

Certified businesses must comply with the fundamental conventions of the International Labour Organization and commit to protecting or increasing the socioeconomic wellbeing of workers.

3 - PROTECTION OF THE RIGHTS OF INDIGENOUS PEOPLES

Certified businesses must support the rights of indigenous peoples, as defined in the United Nations 2007 Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples. Indigenous peoples represent approximately 6% of the global population and 5,000 different groups or communities.

4 - PROTECTION OF THE RIGHTS OF WORKERS, PRODUCERS AND LOCAL COMMUNITIES

The FSC label aims to ensure compliance with fundamental requirements in terms of labour law: abolition of child labour, elimination of all forms of forced or mandatory labour, elimination of discrimination in terms of jobs and profession.

5 - PRESERVATION OF FORESTRY RESOURCES

Forestry management operations must encourage the effective use of multiple forestry products and services to guarantee economic viability.

6 - PROTECTION OF ENVIRONMENTAL VALUES AND IMPACTS

Forest management should maintain biological diversity and associated ecosystem values and services (water resources, soils, landscape, heritage species and habitats, etc.)

7 - PROTECTION OF PLANTATIONS

Businesses undertake to contribute to the protection of plantations, to control invasive species and avoid using fertilizers, pesticides and GMO.

8 - MONITORING AND ASSESSMENT

Management practices are monitored for assessment purposes: quality and quantity of forestry products, protection of environmental conservation and social values.

9 - PROTECTION OF CONSERVATION VALUES

Businesses must identify, assess, protect and monitor the High Conservation Value (HCV) present in its management unit.

What is the purpose of this certification?

Certify the “sustainable” management of forests throughout the wood transformation process up to the end consumer.

What is this certification?

FSC certification is based on a concrete commitment in the form of a forestry management plan. It requires the forest to have an initial quality level, with annual audits throughout the duration of the contract (valid for 5 years).

THIS CERTIFICATION PROVIDES OUR CLIENTS WITH PROOF THAT PRODUCTS MADE FROM WOOD FIBRE ARE SOURCED FROM “RESPONSIBLY” MANAGED FORESTS.

An independent certification body inspects the company or organisation applying for certification. Conformity is verified via an annual audit.

PEFC™ - Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification

The PEFC label certifies sustainable forestry management and covers 55 countries throughout the world.

The PEFC label offers consumers a guarantee that their purchased product originates from responsible sources and that their purchase contributes to sustainable forestry management.

What is the role of the PEFC label?

Define rules and criteria for sustainable forestry management applicable to parties who cultivate, harvest, transform and sell the wood.

Carry out monitoring and checks to ensure these are properly applied independently throughout the chain, via different participants.

Provide documented and transparent guarantees that the stipulated requirements are met.

The PEFC label confirms 2 aspects:

That the forest owner who cultivated the wood and the forest operator who harvested and transported the wood have adopted PEFC sustainable forestry management practices.

That all businesses who then transformed and sold this wood have applied PEFC traceability rules.
